Adrian Barham has announced that he will not be offering himself for re-election as Chairman at the forthcoming AGM and will be stepping down from Council due to pressure of work commitments. He agreed to continue assisting Council with the Charity Commission application. We thank Adrian for his contributions as Chairman during 2017. He has been a member of the Society since 2004 and was for many years our much-respected Treasurer. We wish him well. Council will make provision for a new Chairman to be identified.
We welcome David Broomfield who has been co-opted to the Council as our future Treasurer and will be offered for election to the Council at the forthcoming AGM. David has been a member and supporter of the White Lion Society since 2008. His contribution as our guide during our recent visit to Eton College will be remembered by our members. He graduated in history from Sheffield University and is now a Finance Officer in local government. He first developed his interest in heraldry at the age of 10 years. Many of you will know him as the Vice-President of CUHAGS, of which he has been a member for 17 years. He has written surveys of the heraldry in several Cambridge colleges (Trinity, Magdalene, St John's, Clare, Gonville and Caius, Corpus, Christ's, Queens', Peterhouse etc) also Audley End House, Wimpole Hall and Eton College.
Dr Adrian Ailes has taken over the management and editorship of the White Lion Society Newsletter. Copy should in future be forwarded to him.
